Clay Snakes

Each snake's head and tail will be made and glazed in class. Students will pound bottlecaps with a nail and create the body on heavy wire. Your instructor will return the snake assembled. This snake might just be able to keep unwanted creatures or birds away from the fruit on your trees! (But no promises!)
Artworks will be returned after the teacher fires them at her home and returns to Schack (usually takes one full month.)

Rug Tufting Workshop: Make your very own Rug!

In this hands-on class, students will learn the fundamentals of creating their very own custom rug from start to finish. Using a tufting gun, participants will discover how to transfer a flat vector image onto canvas, tuft their design, apply glue and backing, and finish their piece with a professional shave. Perfect for individuals or pairs—this class makes a great creative outing for friends, couples, or family members. By the end of the session, each student will have completed one personalized tufted rug to take home and enjoy.

Learn Gesture Live Drawing

In this beginner-friendly course, students will learn the essential techniques that professional illustrators and comic artists use to bring figures to life. We’ll explore what makes a pose dynamic—and why—starting with the core foundations of gesture, proportion, anatomy, and the line of action. Through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance, students will learn how to build a strong, expressive structure in their drawings using rhythm lines, the Reilly Method, and other fundamental tools for creating movement and energy.
By the end of the class, students will complete a dynamic figure drawing and leave with the skills and confidence to infuse future work with liveliness, clarity, and expression.

3-Dimensional Fruit Painting

In this workshop, students will learn how to create a relief fruit sculpture on canvas using lightweight construction foam and flexible modeling paste. Each participant will select a fruit of their choice—such as a pomegranate, lemon, orange, or similar—and build the raised form using sculpting foam as the core structure.
Students will refine the surface and sculpt dimensional branches using SamanArt Flexible Modeling Paste. They will also learn painting techniques for both the background and the sculpted fruit using acrylics, and will complete their piece with painted leaves to enhance the composition.
By the end of the session, each student will have a fully sculpted and painted 16x20-inch relief artwork ready to take home.

Learn to paint vibrant, energetic florals in this fun and beginner-friendly acrylic painting workshop. Inspired by loose, colorful brushwork and bold, expressive mark-making, this class guides students step-by-step through creating a lively floral bouquet full of movement and personality. You’ll learn how to build an underpainting that captures light and energy, apply layered and gestural brushstrokes to form dynamic petals and foliage, and mix bright, harmonious colors using acrylic paints. The instructor will also demonstrate how to add finishing touches—such as highlights, texture, and accents—that bring the composition to life.
Through demonstrations and individual guidance, each participant will complete their own floral acrylic painting similar in style and spirit to the sample artwork. No drawing or painting experience is required—just a willingness to play, explore, and enjoy the creative process.

Mixed Media and Painting

In this hands-on workshop, students will explore the exciting world of mixed-media painting through step-by-step instruction. Participants will learn how to create rich, dimensional textures using modeling paste, building and layering it to add depth and tactile interest to their canvas.
They will also be introduced to decoupage techniques, incorporating printed photos or illustrations and seamlessly adhering, sealing, and blending them into the textured surface.
Finally, students will work with acrylic paints to enhance their compositions, learning how to blend colors, add depth, and unify the painted and decoupaged elements. Students will leave the class having completed two 16” x 20” canvases and one larger 19” x 23” work on a mixed-media board.

In this creative workshop, students will design and craft their own garden mosaic bricks by applying colorful glass tiles directly onto classic clay bricks. Participants will learn the basics of mosaic layout, cutting, adhesion, and grouting as they create unique, weather-resistant pieces perfect for decorating garden beds, pathways, or outdoor spaces. After the second class, each student will leave with a beautifully finished mosaic brick ready to display at home.
