Learn how to create unique monoprints without a press using a gel printing plate. In this class, we'll use an 8" x 10" gel plate with acrylic paint, found textures, and DIY stencils and stamps. We'll work to create prints that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also wonderful for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has minimal setup and is easy to do almost anywhere.
Students will learn:
Techniques for creating layered prints using a gel plate and acrylic paint.
How to use homemade stencils/masks and found objects to create interesting textures in your prints.
A basic understanding of how different paints and papers may impact your finished prints.
How to use, care for, and store a gel printing plate.
Students will create monoprints and a variety of printed papers using a gel plate. These prints may also be used for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.
All supplies are included, but an apron is recommended. Please dress for mess!

Discover a range of techniques, tips & tricks that can transform your Fiber Art! We will explore a series of GOLDEN Acrylic products that can be used to create incredible surfaces, textures, and patterns! These methods can be used to create sculpture, basketry, vessels, book arts, installation or 2-dimensional art. The focus is not intended for 'everyday' wearable art however definitely a possibility for costume. This workshop will open your eyes to a whole new approach in working with textiles.
The instructor will demonstrate various techniques and answer questions throughout the workshop. Each artist will create samples of different products, processes, and techniques, documenting each detail to serve as a valuable future reference. A class summary will be provided to support continued independent exploration. All acrylic products are graciously provided by Instructor & Golden Artist Colors
Students should bring the following:
- pre-cut white fabric, lightweight basic white cotton/polyester sheeting (10-12 pieces, range of sizes no smaller than 4”, no larger than 10” ) Feel free to bring other fabric to experiment with.
-Clear plastic sheeting (found in most hardware stores near paint tarps); will be used in the transfer process, underneath especially drippy samples while working, on the floor for additional drying space & at the end of the class to help in transporting wet samples.
- box lids or trays for drying & transporting wet samples
- Personal imagery, artwork, photography or drawings; Black/White, color copies (laser prints not inkjet)
- Apron or paint shirt (Dress for mess!)

Students can either bring an 8x10 photocopy image to transform into a mosaic or develop their concept in class.

In this workshop, students will be introduced to Gel Plate Printmaking using an 8" x 10" gel plate and acrylic paint. We’ll learn to work with leaves, ferns, branches, and flowers to build unique botanical gel prints. Our goal will be to create botanical monoprints and monotypes that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also excellent material for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed media projects.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has a minimal setup and does not require the use of a press, making it possible to do it from almost anywhere.
Students will learn:
A basic understanding of how paints and papers may impact gel prints including thick vs. thin papers, opaque vs. transparent layers, and “What is the right amount of paint?”
• How to use botanical items, such as leaves, ferns, and flowers as textures and masks for gel printing.
• How to clean, care for, and store a gel printing plate.
All supplies are included, but an apron is recommended. Please dress for mess!

Discover methods of combining paper, fiber, imagery, and acrylic to create inspirational artwork.
In this workshop, you will learn to develop patterns and textures using Acrylic Paints, Mediums, Gels, Grounds, and Pastes. Explore techniques for building surfaces with smooth or textured, transparent or translucent layers. Understand which products are best for drawing media, water media, image transfers, and gluing, while gaining insight into the unique qualities of each product.
Move beyond traditional notions of collage as this workshop expands your vocabulary of methods and approaches, offering new pathways for your individual artwork. This class is open to all levels.
