The students will learn how to blow a round bubble to turn it into an ornament and sculpt a snowman out of solid glass rods.
The student will make a round ornament and also a snowman ornament.

This course is designed for beginners and intermediate glass enthusiasts who wish to explore the intricate art of borosilicate flameworking. Throughout the four-week duration, students will delve into the fundamental techniques, safety protocols, and artistic expressions of working with borosilicate glass.
Week one we will focus on safety, tools, and colors, and students will get the opportunity to make small solid pieces. Week two will focus on building with pieces and welding techniques. Week three will focus on hollow work, how to weld hollow glass, and finishing off projects from the previous weeks.
All supplies provided. Please wear cotton clothing without draped sleeves and closed-toed shoes.

Creating tiny glass hearts is a fun introduction to sculpting with glass. Using rods of borosilicate glass and bench-mounted flameworking torches, students will learn how to melt and shape glass. Different methods of applying color will be covered.
Students will learn how to safely operate a flameworking torch and how to use the flame to melt and shape borosilicate glass into heart shapes. We will also experiment with applying frit and stringer to the hot glass for added color and decoration.
Students will make several small (3/4"-1") glass hearts.

This is an opportunity to rent time with the help of an instructor present.
Each individual in the open studio will bring their own glass supplies (aside from tools) to make projects they have an interest in making. There will not be a demo but there will be a teacher there to help answer glass-related questions, change out propane and oxygen tanks, and help with the annealer.

Students will use a bench-mounted torch and rods of borosilicate glass to learn how to carefully melt glass and shape a gather of glass into an icicle. After completing some basic clear icicles, the process of applying some stripes of color will be covered.
Students will learn how to safely light and use a bench-mounted torch. They will learn how to melt a glass rod to create a gather of molten glass on the end, and learn to use tools to transform that gather into an icicle
Students should go home with several small icicles.
